Can a cFP-2120 Operate Without a Backplane? Hardware: Compact FieldPoint>>Controllers>>cFP-2120
Problem: I have a system that I want to run headless on a cFP-2120 Real-Time controller. It does not need any modules connected. In order to save money and space, can I run the controller without a backplane? Solution: Yes, the controller can be used without a backplane. The backplane allows communication between modules and the controller, but if you do not need any modules, there is no need for a backplane. However, the controller should never be powered on when you are mounting it to or removing it from a backplane.
