Problem:
What is the NI Data Logger, and is it the same as VI Logger?

Solution:
The NI Data Logger is an executable VI that reads and stores data from a DAQmx Base device. NI Data Logger is different than VI Logger. The NI Data Logger installs with the DAQmx Base drivers starting with Version 1.3.

The functionality includes:

• Selecting channels to record
  
• Acquiring voltage or thermocouple data
  
• Setting the number of samples to acquire and the sampling rate
  
• Setting the data file path
  
• Saving an image of the current display

Currently NI Datalogger can save data only in a .xls format.
