Why Can't I Download the Monitor Software to the AT-FBUS/PCMCIA-FBUS Card? Hardware: Industrial Communications>>Fieldbus
Problem: If there is a problem communicating to the memory address used by the interface card, it is not possible to download the monitor software to the card. This will cause the NI-FBUS monitor to not work. Upon opening the software, it attempts to download the monitor stack to the card. This fails and typically reports a base address conflict. Solution: Selecting non-conflicting resources solves this problem. As of version 2.0, the monitor software does not use interrupts. This problem is usually remedied by changing the base address of the board to a non-conflicting address. In case you are still having problems, look for a conflict with BIOS shadowing. Some computers have a BIOS option to allow you to shadow the video and BIOS functionality into upper memory. If this memory overlaps the base address of the interface board, it may cause communication problems. To avoid this problem, either disable the BIOS shadowing or choose a base address outside of the shadowed memory range. This conflict can occur with any Fieldbus utilities. It could also occur with a CAN card since it uses a similar shared memory architecture. Related Links: Attachments:
