Does Measure Work with Serial Boards?Primary Software: Other NI Software>>MeasurePrimary Software Version: 2.0 Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A Secondary Software: N/A
Problem: Instead of using the normal COM port on my computer, I want to use the Measure Serial functions in Excel to communicate with a COM port I have through a National Instruments or 3rd-party serial board. Is this possible? Solution: Most serial boards (including National Instruments boards) handle the serial driver interactions behind the scenes so that Windows sees the ports on the boards as normal COM ports, identical to the built-in serial ports on your computer. For this reason, you should have no problems using plug-in serial boards with the Measure serial functions. Note: Measure has nothing to do with "behind-the-scenes" operation of the serial board (IRQ sharing, interrupt processing, etc.). These operations are all handled by the serial driver you installed with your board. Related Links: Measure Support Attachments:
