"This Device Cannot Find Enough Free Resources" (Error Code 12) with MXI-Express Hardware: PXI/CompactPCI>>Controllers>>PXI-8350, PXI/CompactPCI>>Controllers>>PXI-8310, PXI/CompactPCI>>Controllers>>ExpressCard-8360
Problem: I am getting an error message on my PCI-to-PCI bridge in Device Manager when installing MXI-Express in my computer. The error message says: "This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. If you want to use this device, you will need to disable one of the other devices on this system. (Code 12)". How can I remove this error? Solution: On some computers, having the NI CardBus-8310 driver installed can cause MXI-Express to fail with error code 12. MXI-Express is based on PCI Express switch architecture which is transparent to device drivers and no additional software is needed to support PXIe devices. To remove the NI CardBus-8310 driver, go to Start»Settings»Control Panel»Add/Remove Programs, select the NI CardBus-8310 driver, and then select Add/Remove. This error could also be caused by an incompatibility with your MXI-Express card and your computer's motherboard. Note: The PXI Platform Services software on the PXI Platform Services CD or driver CD included with your PXI Express MXI-Express hardware is required to provide chassis and controller identification for PXI features such as trigger routing and slot detection. The PXI Platform Services software is also included with the NI-DAQmx and NI-VISA drivers. Also, you will still need the device drivers for the peripheral PXI cards installed in your chassis.
