Why Am I Prompted for a .nce File When I'm Trying to Import a Switch Executive .xml File into Switch Executive?

Problem: Why am I prompted for a .nce file when I'm trying to import a Switch Executive .xml File into Switch Executive?

Solution:

You are unable to import the .xml file because you are trying to import a Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX) configuration file (.nce) instead of a Switch Executive configuration file (.xml). If you navigate to File » Import in the MAX menu bar, as shown below, you will be unintentionally importing a MAX configuration file.

Instead, you should click on Create New NI Switch Executive Virtual Device, as shown below. This will prompt you for your .xml file.
