NI-5600 or NI-5610 Calibration Fails

Primary Software: Calibration Executive
Primary Software Version: 3.3.1
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A

Problem:
I use Calibration Executive 3.3.1 to calibrate a PXI-5600 or a PXI-5610 that should pass but the device fails the calibration. Or, I have noticed that the limits in Calibration Executive do not seem to match the specifications.  Why is this and how can I fix it?

Solution:
The device is failing calibration is because the limit data for NI 5600 and NI 5610 are incorrect (i.e. too tight) in Calibration Executive 3.3.1. You can fix this by replacing the old limit file with the new corrected data file which can be found in the attachment section of this knowledgebase. Following is the procedure to install them.
  1. Download both NI 5600.mdb and NI 5610.mdb
  2. Rename the existing databases to NI 5600.mdb.bak and NI 5610.mdb.bak
  3. Copy the downloaded files to the following location:

    /National Instruments/Calibration Executive/procedures/NI 5600/Limits
    /National Instruments/Calibration Executive/procedures/NI 5610/Limits

Once you copy these files in to the database file restart Calibration Executive and you will have correct limits for NI 5600 and NI 5610.

Note: It is always possible that the board cannot be calibrated back into specification limits.  If the board is several years old, has been used at high temperatures for long periods of time, or may be damaged in some other way it may also fail some tests.  In this case it will not pass with the new limits files and must be sent in for repair.
