Inhibit Input Setting in MAX is Grayed Out Primary Software: Driver Software>>NI-Motion/FlexMotionPrimary Software Version: 7.2 Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A Secondary Software: N/A Hardware: Motion Control>>Controllers>>PCI-7358
Problem: In Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX), under Devices and Interfaces » NI-Motion Devices » PCI 73xx » Default 73xx Settings » Axis 1 » on the Motion I/O Settings folder there is a setting for Inhibit Input Settings, but it is always grayed out. Why is this setting grayed out? Is this setting not available for my board? How do I enable this setting? Solution: The Inhibit Input Setting in MAX was created to be used with the PCI-7390 series motion controllers only. This setting will be grayed out for all of the PCI 733x, 734x, and 735x motion controllers. The only way to enable this setting would be to use a 7390 series motion controller. In the 7390 User Manual this Inhibit Input is referred to as the Inhibit-In (Alarm) Input. These inputs are driven from a p-command drive to provide system status to the 7390 motion controller. The Inhibit-In input can be connected to the alarm or servo alarm output of the drive. The alarm signal is inactive during normal operation. When a drive error occurs, the drive is disabled or inhibited using the Inhibit-Out output. The controller does not generate step and direction outputs when Inhibit-In is active. You can use the software disabled Inhibit-In (alarm) as a general-purpose input. You can read the status of this input at any time and change the active state as required. The Inhibit-in (alarm) inputs are a per-axis enhancement on the PCI-7390 controller and are not required for basic motion control. These inputs are part of a system solution for complete motion control. Related Links: NI PCI-7390 User Manual Support: Motion Control Support Attachments:
