How do I Use a National Instruments License File on an OS Other Than Windows?

Primary Software: Other NI Software>>NI Volume License Manager
Primary Software Version: 2.1
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A

Problem:
I have a volume license agreement with NI and my license servers use Solaris.  How do I configure my license server to manage my licenses?

Solution:

NI Volume License Manager is the standard NI volume license management tool. This tool is only available on Windows. If you choose to use a Solaris server for license management, you will use FLEXnet Publisher directly. To do this, complete the following steps:

Note:  Only Solaris versions 8 and 9 are supported.

  1. Email the NI Contracts group at agreements@ni.com and request a volume license file for Solaris.  Make sure to include the computer name and the host id (MAC address) of the server.
  2. Download the attached nilm_Solaris.zip, which contains lmgrd.exe and the nilm.exe vendor daemon compiled for Solaris.
Note:  This is the only non-Windows vendor daemon we provide.  It will not work on any other operating system or type of Unix.
  3. Reference the KnowledgeBase "Using a Volume License File on a FLEXlm Server" for further instructions (see Related Links Below).
For more information on setting up a FLEXlm license server, see the FLEXlm End User's Guide (linked below).
