Communicate to NI-Device TCP/IP Application on Local ComputerPrimary Software: Driver Software>>NI-DevicePrimary Software Version: 1.3 Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A Secondary Software: N/A
Problem: Is it possible to run a NI-Device Plus TCP/IP application and communicate with it on the same computer? Solution: TCP/IP is not restricted to remote communication. Different processes can transparently use TCP/IP to communicate with local or remote processes. There is no distinction between the two. This means that you can communicate with a NI-Device Plus TCP/IP application running on the local computer. Any VXI-11 compatible application should be able to communicate with your NI-Device Plus TCP/IP application. National Instrument provides NI-VISA, which can be used to communicate with VXI-11 instruments. To set up a VISA resource to the NI-Device TCP/IP application, open Measurement & Automation Explorer and right-click on Device and Interfaces and select Create New. In the dialog box select TCP/IP resource. Follow the instructions presented. You can use your computer's name or the name localhost to communicate with the NI-Device TCP/IP application. You can now use this resource name with any VISA function or VI. Related Links: KnowledgeBase 2ICE47YY: Can I Have NI-488.2 and NI-Device on the Same Computer? Attachments:
