The Frequency Output for the "Measure Frequency (NI-TIO) VI" LabVIEW 6.1 Shipping Example Is Incorrect

Hardware: Counter/Timers (TIO)>>Devices>>PCI-6601

Problem: I am using the LabVIEW 6.1 shipping example Measure Frequency (NI-TIO) VI with my National Instruments NI-TIO counter board. When I run the program, the frequency output is not what is expected. Even if I don't have anything cabled into my card, I always get the same output.

Solution: The problem lies in the default configurations of the shipping example. The source specification that is wired into the Counter Source (NI-TIO).vi is set to Internal Time Base. Because of this, the resulting frequency, no matter what is wired into the Counter's Source, will always be the same, the internal time base of the card, which is normally 100Khz or 20Mhz.

To enable the shipping example to output the frequency of the signal that is wired into the counter's source, change the setting for the source specification from Internal Time Base to PFI Line.
