Why Can't I Build the .lsb File for a Code Interface Node with LabVIEW 8.5?

Primary Software: LabVIEW Development Systems>>LabVIEW Full Development System
Primary Software Version: 8.5
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A

Problem:
When trying to build the .lsb file to compile the source code for a Code Interface Node in LabVIEW 8.5, the lvsbutil.exe generates errors and the .lsb file is not built.

In Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003, this occurs after selecting Build » Rebuild Solution in an effort to build the .lsb file.  The errors reported in Visual Studio .NET 2003 are error building resource file: 1 and error PRJ0019: A tool returned an error code from (custom build step description).  It also generates a warning, LNK4098: defaultlib 'MSVCRTD' conflicts with use of other libs; use /NODEFAULTLIB:library.

Solution:
This issue has been reported to R&D (ID 4C5FE0E9).  The workaround for the issue is to replace the lvsbutil.exe from LabVIEW 8.5 with the one from LabVIEW 8.2.  The version of the lvsbutil.exe file from LabVIEW 8.2 is attached.

The steps to workaround the problem are as follows:

  1. Make a backup copy of the lvsbutil.exe file found in:
    C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 8.5\cintools
Store the backup copy in a safe location.
  2. Delete the lvsbutil.exe file from the LabVIEW 8.5\cintools directory.
  3. Download the attached file called lvsbutil.exe, and save it in the directory:
    C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 8.5\cintools
  4. Try to build the .lsb file again.
