The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) regulations require EMC verification for electronic products. NI products bear the RCM or C-Tick Mark, which indicates compliance with Australian/New Zealand EMC standards.
The UL Mark on a product means that it has been safety tested and meets UL requirements. The cULus Listed Mark indicates compliance with Canadian and U.S. safety standards, and gives consumers the safety assurance they expect.
Notified Bodies are accredited in Europe for product safety testing and certification according to European Norms (EN) with the goal to protect the health of the consumer. Notified Body Marks such as, VDE, TUV and Demko, provide independent EU support for the suppliers’ CE marking
UL tests and certifies products for use in hazardous locations where explosive atmospheres may be present. Class I certification covers Division and Zone area classification systems for U.S. and Canada. NI FieldPoint products (FP/cFP) are cULus Listed for use in hazardous locations: Class I, Division 2 (Zone 2).
Ex is a Certification from a European Notified Body verifying compliance with the essential requirements of EU Directive 94/9/EC. NI FieldPoint products (FP/cFP) are Ex Certified for use in potentially explosive atmospheres: EEx nC IIC T4.
IECEx is a Certification from an IECEx Certification Body (ExCB) verifying compliance with explosive atmospheres standards. NI Compact RIO (cRIO) products are IECEx Certified according to IEC 60079-0/-15 for use in Zone 2 hazardous locations, Protective System Classification:: II 3G Ex nA IIC T4 Gc.
The CE marking and Declaration of Conformity (DoC) are NI's statements assuring compliance to the European Union Restriction of Hazordous Substances law. The EU RoHS directive currently applies to eight categories of electrical and electronic equipment. Products in Category 9, Industrial Monitoring and Control Instruments are excluded from the RoHS directive until July 2017. Consequently, most of NI's products are outside the scope of the RoHS directive.
