Optimized Compiler Integration
External optimizing compilers offer you the ability to compile LabWindows/CVI code from within the LabWindows/CVI environment. You can use preconfigured templates for Microsoft Visual C++, Borland, and Intel compilers, or create your own.
Improved System Deployment
LabWindows/CVI 8.0 provides a redesigned way to distribute applications. You now can create a distribution that features not only the LabWindows/CVI application but also its dependencies, including drivers such as NI-DAQmx, NI-VISA, and NI-SCOPE.
Support for .NET Assemblies
The .NET Library provides the ability to invoke methods and set/get properties from Microsoft .NET assemblies, such as those for logging errors and monitoring CPU usage. LabWindows/CVI also provides the Create LabWindows/CVI .NET Controller feature, which you can use to generate an instrument driver that serves as a wrapper for a .NET assembly.
Direct Download of LabWindows/CVI DLLs onto NI LabVIEW Real-Time Targets
LabWindows/CVI gives you the power to create a DLL that you can automatically download to a real-time target directly from LabWindows/CVI. After LabWindows/CVI downloads the DLL, you can debug the DLL on the real-time target or deploy the DLL to a production target. You must have the LabVIEW Real-Time Module installed on your computer to use this feature.
Native Tab Control
The native tab control offers you the flexibility to organize user interface panels into multiple tabbed pages. As with all other LabWindows/CVI controls, you can create and modify tab controls programmatically or in the User Interface Editor.
More Than 80 New Analysis Functions
The Advanced Analysis Library has been improved to include new curve fitting and windowing functions, high-performance linear algebra functions, special functions, and enhancements to fast Fourier transform (FFT) performance. Additional performance increases include the following:
  • Use of the Intel Math Kernel Library to provide high-performance implementation of linear algebra functionality
  • BLAS/LAPACK algorithms to decrease computation time for linear algebra functions and to provide more accurate results

  • For a complete list, see LabWindows/CVI Analysis.
